Former Hockey player Wayne Gretzky turns 50 this Wednesday.
Gretzky is a leader in points, assist and goals having set records that are likely not to be broken anytime soon.
Even though he hasn't been in NHL spotlight since stepping down as the head coach of the Phoenix Coyotes prior to last season, The Great One is never far away from a hockey fan's thoughts. Gretzky is the league's all-time point leader with 2,857 in 1,487 contests. He has more assists than Mark Messier, who is second in terms of points, has points with 1,963. Gretzky also holds impressive records of the most goals (92 in 1981-82), assists (163 in 1985-86) and points (215 in 1985-86) in a single season.
