An old woman,Kristine Casey at the age of 61, has given birth to her own grandson in Chicago
Kristine Casey agreed to be a surrogate after her daughter,Sara Connell, who had had three unsuccessful pregnancies.Casey delivered a baby boy last week via Cesarean section. Mom Kristine Casey hadn't given birth for 30 years before she had Finnean, who's also her first grandchild and biologically is Connell's first child.
Connell and her husband, Bill, are the biological parents of the child Casey carried, which grew from an embryo created from the Chicago couple's egg and sperm.Crying and praying, Connell and her mother held hands as Finnean Lee Connell was delivered by cesarean section at 9:47 p.m. on wednesday. When the baby let out a cry, "I lost it," said Sara Connell, the first family member to hold him. "It's such a miracle."
Casey is not the first woman to give birth to her own grandchildren, so have women in, at the very least, Texas, Florida, Japan and India.Still, it's rare for post-menopausal women to have children. Now that’s a 21st century Meetup group waiting to happen.
